Unusual poster from 1933 when the fields of Kent really were the garden of England and business was sufficiently thriving for the Southern Railway to run express freight trains for Kent fruit to the Midlands, Wales and the North.

The most remarkable fact from this is that of the 35 stations listed, some 30 (86%) remain in operation today. Certainly no fruit trains run from them now and at many the services are reduced to infrequent passenger trains, but I was surprised that so many survived the cuts of the 1950s and 1960s.
